The Narrows

The Narrows is the dream of brothers Will & James Brown who returned to Portaferry in 1992 to plan and execute the renovation of their father's former family home and turn it into this amazing licensed restaurant, guesthouse and conference centre.

The excellence of The Narrows has been recognised from all perspectives by a number of prestigious awards during its short history. Almost immediately after opening we were awarded runner up in the National Holiday Care Awards. This is a national award and placed The Narrows firmly at the top of the ladder in the fields of accessibility and customer care.

The Narrows recently won the British Airways Tourism Award for best catering in Northern Ireland. This is the most prestigious award of its kind and serves as official NITB recognition of the high standards of food and service at The Narrows.

The RIAI (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland) then came along and decided that The Narrows contributed as much to contemporary design as Belfast's world famous Waterfront Hall, awarding joint honours to the two.

To complement the above awards The Narrows also scooped the "LiveWire award for most significant progress in business" - recognising the business planning process from concept to its current position as a flourishing enterprise.
