Tullyveery CarpentersThese unique Log Boxes, or Turf Bins, are inspired by and closely modelled on a number of antique examples in private ownership in County Antrim. The Georgian originals, which date from around 1790 - 1800, are thought to have been made for a local estate by the coopers of Ireland's oldest whiskey distillery at nearby Bushmills. They held fuel for the numerous fires that made living bearable in large, draughty, Irish country houses.

Tullyveery Carpenters have gone to great lengths to match the skills and quality of workmanship of their Georgian counterparts. Only selected and seasoned solid native Irish hardwoods are used - oak from near Cashel in County Tipperary and elm from County Down. The carpentry, brass-working, tin-smithing and hand-finishing is carried out by local craftsmen to the highest standard.

Three models of bins are available. Each holds a generous quantity of logs or turf, capable of supplying most fires with a full evening's worth of burning. The Hall model is the largest and designed as a stand-alone piece of furniture for an entrance or banqueting hall, or a particularly large dining room. A pair of the Dining Room models, set either side of a fireplace, provides probably the most flexible option. The smaller, lidded Sitting Room model can double as an occasional table or casual seat.
