Greenhill offers activities which are both fun and challenging while helping to develop the individual in terms of self-
esteem, co-operation with others and responsibility. We encourage and facilitate the character building elements of both overcoming a personal challenge and working as part of a team.
Activities take place either in our extensive grounds or the surrounding area: i.e. The Mountains of Mourne, Castlewellan Forest Park and Lake and Tollymore Forest Park.
Your group's requirements are assessed by our trained staff and a programme is tailored to suit your particular needs and objectives.
Our caring staff have wide experience in developing and delivering courses for groups that include those with specific disabilities or needs.
Accommodation
At Greenhill YMCA we are glad to provide the opportunity to experience a sense of belonging in a relaxed and homely atmosphere. A residential stay can offer the time to further develop the life and social skills important in daily living.
- Greenhill Chalet Accommodation
- Our comfortable chalet-style accommodation have beautiful views of the Mourne Mountains and Dundrum Bay and overlook the town of Newcastle. When staying in our chalets you can enjoy such benefits as:

- A spacious lounge
- Supper making facilities
- Group work room
- 2 and 4 bunk bedrooms with wash basins
- Visiting leader's room with shower and wash basin
- All bedding supplied
- Shower and toilet facilities

- Our comfortable chalet-style accommodation have beautiful views of the Mourne Mountains and Dundrum Bay and overlook the town of Newcastle. When staying in our chalets you can enjoy such benefits as:
- Greenhill Camping Accommodation
- From April to October Greenhill can accommodate up to 88 people in fixed tents. When staying in our tented accommodation you will have the use of :
- Mattresses and tent bases - to protect and insulate
- Indoor storage space - to secure personal belongings
- Shower and toilet block
- Easy access to the Mourne Mountains
- The Greenhill Organised Activities - which should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment
- From April to October Greenhill can accommodate up to 88 people in fixed tents. When staying in our tented accommodation you will have the use of :
- Greenhill Campsite - For organised groups with own leader in charge
- Situated at the foot of the Mourne Mountains on the edge of Donard Forest the Greenhill campsite is an ideal location for organised groups, such as Duke of Edinburgh participants, to pitch their tents. This campsite is available all year round and its facilities include:
- Cooking areas
- Water supply
- Camp fire bases
- Shower and toilet block
- Easy access to the Mourne Mountains
- The Greenhill Organised Activities - which should be booked in advance to avoid disappointment
- Situated at the foot of the Mourne Mountains on the edge of Donard Forest the Greenhill campsite is an ideal location for organised groups, such as Duke of Edinburgh participants, to pitch their tents. This campsite is available all year round and its facilities include:
Programmes
- Schools and Colleges.
- Greenhill YMCA caters for schools and colleges according to their needs - whether its a fun day out, a residential stay or day activities.
- Environmental Education:
- At Greenhill we offer diverse programmes designed to facilitate Primary and Secondary Key Stage Curricula.
- Church/Uniformed Organisations:
- Greenhill can offer activities to challenge, motivate and activate your group.
- Youth Groups:
- Youth Club Groups are frequent visitors to Greenhill. Usually taking part in challenging activities with tailor made programmes that suit all abilities.
- Summer Adventure Camp:
- Held every year during July and August (Monday - Friday). The Greenhill Summer Adventure Camp is for children aged 6 - 11 years and 12 - 14 years. Activities include swimming, canoeing, bouldering, arts and crafts, sports, days away, BBQ's and much more.
- Groups with Disabilities:
- Our spacious chalet accommodation is suitable for people with disabilities. Programmes and activities can be adapted as necessary and Greenhill's caring staff ensure that enjoyment and a sense of achievement are the prime rewards for your visit.
- Corporate Groups:
- Greenhill YMCA has successfully provided mental and physical team-building courses for many Northern Ireland's leading companies by designing and delivering programmes of challenges and activities for employee and management groups.
How to Book
Telephone Greenhill YMCA to make a provisional booking. A date will then be set when the completed booking form and non-refundable deposit must be received by Greenhill. A confirmation letter of your booking details will be sent. Our programmes Department will be on hand to discuss and design your programme.
